Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes what DuPage County Busted Mugshots receives when someone uses its pages, how that information supports the service, and when it may be shared. Using the site means accepting these practices. Effective date: August 20, 2026.

Information You Choose to Send

Search terms

When a page offers a search tool, a name, location, or other query is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. DuPage County Busted Mugshots does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider receives and handles the query under its own notice and terms.

Messages and submissions

If a visitor sends an email or contact message, the details in that message are kept so a reply can be made or the request can be handled. Those messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal process.

Technical Details from Each Visit

Web servers and service providers may record ordinary technical information when a page loads. This information helps diagnose problems and understand general use of the pages.

  • Internet Protocol address.
  • Browser name and version.
  • Device type and operating system.
  • Pages viewed and the time spent on each page.
  • The referring site, when a visitor arrives through another page.
  • Visit and request timestamps.

Cookies and similar tools

Cookies may be used to understand how visitors move through the site and to support selected functions. Browser settings can block or delete cookies. A blocked cookie may cause a search box, preference, or other feature to behave differently.

Why These Details Are Used

Information is used for ordinary service and maintenance purposes, not to create an official county record. Those purposes include:

  • Keeping the pages available, useful, and reasonably fast.
  • Sending search requests to the appropriate partner service.
  • Learning which pages and links receive general interest.
  • Finding errors, abuse, and technical faults.
  • Showing advertising that may be more relevant to a visitor’s interests.

Links Beyond DuPage Pages

Pages may link to the DuPage Sheriff’s Inmate Search and JailTracker, city police records and news, the Circuit Clerk, IDOC, BOP, ICE, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor leaves these pages, the destination’s own privacy notice and terms control its data practices. DuPage County Busted Mugshots does not control those outside systems.

Some advertising partners may observe activity across sites to support interest-based advertising. That tracking occurs on the partner’s systems, under the partner’s policies, rather than through a promise that this site can see or control every such activity.

Parties That May Receive Data

Personal data is not sold by this site. It may nevertheless be received by the service providers that make a requested function work or by a government body with lawful authority.

  • Search partners that process a query submitted through their tool.
  • Analytics providers that supply aggregate usage reports.
  • Advertising networks and related measurement providers.
  • Law-enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order or other lawful demand.

Security Is a Best Effort

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information handled by the service. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and no promise can be made that data will be immune from every breach, interception, or unauthorized access.

Visitors Under 18

These pages are intended for adults. The service does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted data, a parent or guardian may use Contact Us to ask that the submission be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.

Choices About Your Data

Depending on what information is held and the law that applies, a visitor may ask about:

  • A copy of personal data held about that visitor.
  • Correction of information that is inaccurate.
  • Erasure of information that no longer needs to be kept.
  • Opting out of certain processing, cookies, or communications where that choice is available.

Requests about a message or data submitted directly to this service may be sent through Contact Us. A request about a Sheriff, police, court, IDOC, BOP, or ICE record must go to that agency because this service does not control the underlying record.

Changes to This Privacy Notice

Privacy practices may change as the pages, search partners, analytics, advertising services, or legal requirements change. A revised notice will be posted here with a new effective date. The version displayed at the time of use governs that visit, subject to rights that cannot be waived by a notice.
